The action-packed event will run from March 4 - 6, 2022, and feature the only night race of the 2022 MotoGP™ World Championship

The season opening of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship is set to take place at the state-of-the-art Lusail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC) from March 4 - 6. Fans will have the unique opportunity to experience the thrilling action at night, under the beaming floodlights of Lusail International Circuit.

The season opening of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship is set to take place at the state-of-the-art Lusail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC) from March 4 - 6. Fans will have the unique opportunity to experience the thrilling action at night, under the beaming floodlights of Lusail International Circuit.

Qatar Tourism (QT), the Title Sponsor of the event, has organised several live musical performances to take place alongside the event, adding further excitement to the thrilling races. The family-friendly event also offers complimentary access to children under the age of 12 to enjoy the various fun activities planned for March 4.

Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are proud to once again partner with 2022 MotoGP™ World Championship which is a significant event in our country’s annual calendar. This highly-anticipated sports event will bring top riders and race enthusiasts from around the world to experience Qatar’s tourism offerings. Qatar Tourism is continuing with its efforts to develop the country’s sports tourism sector by supporting professional events and raising their profile on an international level. As the country prepares to host the first ever FIFA World Cup™ in the Middle East, QT has several initiatives planned around the mega-event to deliver a memorable experience for FIFA fans.

Berthold Trenkel, Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Tourism, also commented: “Qatar has been hosting the Qatar Moto Grand Prix for almost two decades, gathering residents and visitors from all over the region to come and watch the thrilling season opener. As the Title Partner, Qatar Tourism is proud to host the 20th race held at the state-of-the-art Lusail International Circuit, where audiences will enjoy the races under dazzling floodlights with live music adding to the thrilling atmosphere.”

A Special Moto Exhibition will also be showcased on the side-lines of the event, which will introduce and present the sport’s iconic history. Fans will have the opportunity to photograph and explore more than 20 legendary vehicle models and enjoy a graffiti art segment during which life-sized 3D motorbikes will be painted by local graffiti artists.

Qatar hosted the inaugural event at Lusail International Circuit in October 2004, which saw the Grand Prix of Qatar title secured by Sete Gibernau. In 2008, the country celebrated the first Grand Prix night race in the history of the MotoGP™ World Championship. Having hosted two consecutive race rounds in 2021, this year’s season opener will mark the 20th race held at the Lusail International Circuit.
