Lusail Stadium:

  • Capacity: 80,000
  • Designed by British architects Foster + Partners, Lusail Stadium is designed to mirror the ancient Arab craft of bowl weaving, with the interplay of light and shadow that characterises the traditional fanar lantern. At night, an advanced lighting system will maximise the interaction of the light and openings in the façade, mimicking the welcoming glow of a fanar lantern for approaching fans.

Stadium 974

  • Capacity: 40,000
  • Designed by FIA Fenwick Iribarren Architects, Stadium 974 is constructed entirely from shipping containers and modular steel, a homage to Qatar’s tradition of worldwide trade and seafaring.

Al Thumama Stadium:

  • Capacity: 40,000
  • The first FIFA World Cup™ venue to be designed by a Qatari architect – Ibrahim M. Jaidah. The stadium has a smooth and simple outer form, covered with white cladding. The inspiration for the design stems from a gahfiya, a traditional woven cap worn by Arab men.

Al Bayt Stadium

  • Capacity: 60,000
  • The first match of the first FIFA World Cup 2022™ to take place in the Middle East will fittingly be held in a stadium called ‘home’, in Arabic. Al Bayt Stadium is built in the shape of a traditional Bedouin tent, bayt al sha’ar, a symbol of hospitality in the desert where guests are welcomed to relax and meet the locals.

Al Janoub Stadium

  • Capacity: 40,000
  • This stadium’s design reflects the sails of Qatar’s wooden dhow boats, traditionally responsible for much of the country’s economy. Al Janoub Stadium was designed by British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid.

Ahmad bin Ali Stadium

  • Capacity: 40,000
  • The design of Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan is the story of Qatar. The most striking feature is a glowing façade, comprised of patterns that characterise different aspects of the country: the importance of family, beauty of the desert,  native flora and fauna, and the local and international trade.

Education City Stadium

  • Capacity: 40,000
  • Dubbed the “Diamond in the Desert” owing to its façade, Education City Stadium opened in June 2020. Nestled amidst the university campuses in Qatar Foundation's Education City complex, the stadium is shaped like a jagged diamond.

Khalifa International Stadium

  • Capacity: 40,000
  • Built in 1976 in Al Rayyan, Khalifa International Stadium has long been the cornerstone of the country's significant sporting tradition. Transformed and reopened in 2017 ahead of the FIFA World Cup™, the stadium now boasts an ultramodern shape and dual arches that represent continuity and embracing fans from around the globe.
